Frequently Asked Questions

We appreciate your concerns around your food purchases, and we share similar concerns because we never forget that our chicken is your family’s food.

What do you feed your chickens?

Our chickens are fed a healthy, traditional diet of non-GMO corn, soybean meal, vegetable oil, and important vitamins and minerals. Q- How are your chickens raised?

How are your chickens raised?

Our chickens are hatched, raised and harvested in accordance with the rigorous standards we are required to meet to be American Humane Certified™, a proud distinction few can brag about. Learn more about these standards here.

We grow our chickens in large open structures, with continuous access to food and water, and natural light. Our flocks are not outdoor free-roaming, as chickens are vulnerable to both predators and disease. Such biosecurity measures are critical to ensuring the health of the flock, especially since our chickens are raised with no antibiotics.

Do you inject your chicken with additives, salts, solutions, or marinades?

All of our chicken products are 100% chicken. No salt or any other solutions are added. *

Are your products gluten free?

As a single-ingredient product (no added anything), our chicken is gluten free.*

How do I defrost chicken?

The best and safest way to thaw chicken is slowly in the refrigerator. This can take 24-36 hours, so plan ahead. You can also immerse the product into cold water; be sure to change out the water every half hour to make sure it’s cold. We strongly recommend our consumers never thaw poultry in a microwave or at room temperature.

What does 100% All Natural mean?

By USDA standards, “natural” means that the product has been minimally processed, with no artificial ingredients. It’s important to know that water, salt, and broth meet the “all natural” standards. At Forester Farmers Market®, we don’t add these items to our chicken.*

*Except for rotisserie and fajita marinated items.
